Career Overview/ Highlight : Virat Kohli IPL 2008 to 2025

Virat Kohli is one of the biggest brands in the IPL. After debuting for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2008, he never looked back. He was retained as the management wanted someone for the future. At about 20 at the time, he was the perfect choice.

In 2012, he was named the captain. All this while, Kohli’s international stature grew, and he became India’s captain. Moreover, Kohli, as a batter, was also taking giant strides.

It was evident in the 2016 IPL season, where he slammed 973 runs with four centuries and won the Orange Cap.

In 2022, Kohli went through a massive form slump, which also showed in the IPL, where he accounted for just 341 runs. Nevertheless, he returned strongly in 2023, slamming 639 runs with a couple of hundreds.

As we head into 2025, all eyes will again be on King Kohli, who had a brilliant 2024 season  – scoring 741 runs, winning the Orange Cap, and becoming the first player to cross 8,000 runs in IPL history.
